The grandeur of the museum district and Concertgbouw District
Valeriusplein 24 is a very spacious building with a total
gross area of approximately 440 m2, divided over no
fewer than five complete floors. The building exudes the
grandeur that is so characteristic of the Museum Quarter
and the Concertgebouw District. The facade is a striking
example of the architectural style of the time: red brick,
stained glass, stylised lintels in a different colour, ornamental
ironwork, and of course, the traditional hardstone
stairs to the entrance.
The highest demands of our time
Behind this impressive façade lies a magnificent house,
which was completely renovated in 2002.
Nothing was left to chance in the plans of renowned
architects Ed Veenendaal & Partners. Exterior walls,
floors, staircases and original features were retained.
Furthermore, the house was adapted to the highest
standards of our time, with a keen eye for quality
materials and workmanship.
All exterior windows were renewed and double-glazed.
In the bathrooms and toilets, the bathroom fixtures
and taps are from Philippe Starck. A hydrophore water
system provides sufficient water pressure for all sanitary
facilities. Security is of a high quality thanks to an alarm
system coupled to a camera registration system and
burglar-retardant foil on the windows. An extensive
data network was laid throughout the house.
The lighting, with dimmable recessed spotlights in all
rooms, was designed to achieve perfectly balanced
lighting. There are ceiling speakers throughout the
house, ready to be connected to a central audio system.
And the as yet unmentioned surprise in the basement:
a gym with jacuzzi, Finnish sauna and associated power
